Nursing Home Professionals Online Education Programs Nurse LEAD is a training program to help nurses who act as charge nurses and team leaders in nursing homes become more effective coaches, leaders and supervisors of frontline staff. The program consists of seven modules, including: introduction to leadership, critical thinking, coaching CNAs, conflict resolution, communication, diversity among staff in the workplace, and working with management.

Senior Housing and Aging Services Professionals Online Education/Resources Suicide in the elderly is much more common than many of us think. Often, with early observation and intervention, challenges like depression and health complications can be overcome, allowing the senior to live out a full life. This course will teach you how to spot the warning signs, what to expect, and ways you can help prevent suicide in elders. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Mental Health Services has completed their “Promoting Mental Health and Preventing Suicide: A Toolkit for Senior Living Communities.” The toolkit contains resources to help staff in senior living communities promote mental health and prevent suicide among their residents. Senior living communities include nursing homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, and continuing care retirement communities. The toolkit also provides resources and information to help residents become active participants in mental health promotion and suicide prevention efforts. Gerontology Online is a web-based continuing education program for health care providers who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of aging. Program participants have opportunities to learn about the latest in aging research, education methods, current publications, and best practices that they may integrate into their practice or teaching.
