Non-pharmacological Strategies to Bring Purpose to Residents with Dementia Webinar
Wednesday, April 17, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM MDT
Category: Webinars

This session will initially provide details of the new CMS Rules for Participation and how they relate to our care for residents living with dementia. Attendees will learn how key principles, including person centered care, care planning, discharge planning, and staff training are incorporated into these rules. More than ever before, providers need to focus on individualized care, therapeutic approaches, root cause analysis of behaviors, and staff training to ensure requirements are met. This session will address challenges to implementation, ways to mitigate unintended consequences, and innovative strategies for successful implementation while maintaining a resident-centric focus.

Learning Objectives
By the completion of the presentation, attendees will:

  1. Cite the relevant information to gather for each resident, to best understand their life story when implementing optimal and effective strategies to support their purpose and quality of life.
  2. Describe the nonpharmacological strategies to assure a resident’s quality of life when they are living with dementia.
  3. Utilize the tools for compliance with the current CMS codes of regulation.
