Description:

This virtual workshop will focus on the issues that nursing homes face with respect to resident abuse and neglect. Topics that will be covered during the session will include a review of the abuse and neglect regulations and the accompanying surveyor guidance including the factors that are looked at by surveyors to determine if an incident rises to the level of resident abuse. Situations that are considered to be resident neglect and the differences between resident abuse and resident neglect will also be covered. Trends in deficiencies related to abuse and neglect and staff and facility reporting obligations will also be discussed. Finally, the session will explore strategies and interventions that facilities can implement to prevent resident abuse and neglect.
