Job Summary:

Medication Technician

We are currently seeking a Medication Technician for our Seven Lakes community in Loveland, CO.

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Essential Job Duties (Include % of time for each responsibility):

  • Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and with the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations. (40% of time.)
  • Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed. (6% of time.)
  • Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and documenting the reason(s) why. (5% of time.)
  • Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements. (6% of time.)
  • Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verifying dosages with physician prior to dispensing. (5% of time.)
  • Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance. (5% of time.)
  • Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately. (5% of time.)
  • Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed, including but not limited to: (13% of time.)
  • Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity, personal safety and confidentiality.
  • Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including shaving, grooming, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including restroom assistance/portable commodes/changing incontinency products, etc.)
  • Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, clearing, delivering room trays as needed or assigned
  • Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc., following all safety lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals activities, or other transportation needs as requested or assigned
  • Perform regular safety checks on residents and offer medication reminders
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities such as bed making, laundry, cleaning, setting tables, etc.
  • Clean, and assist with all other community activities and job duties as required or assigned
  • Chart and document appropriate information (including incident reports) communicating any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately
  • Respond promptly to all resident alerts, carrying walkie-talkies and reacting to emergency or other resident requests as needed
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort at all times, assisting in the performance of fire or other safety drills
    • Perform other duties as consistent with the position and as assigned by the Director of Health Services and/or Executive Director, or other designee of the Executive Director as assigned. (15% of time.)
    • Always displaying a positive and professional image through actions and dress and in accordance with the MBK core values
    • Encourage teamwork through open communication with co-workers and other departments (100%)
    • Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families and guests (100%)

  • Background clearances as required by government regulations

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to interact effectively with people of difference ages and backgrounds
  • Must meet and maintain all state specific regulatory requirements
  • Must maintain HIPAA compliance at all times

  • Must be mobile and able to execute the physical demands of the position

Director of Health Services

The Director of Health Services serves as a liaison with hospital personnel, physicians, community organizations and other health related service agencies to provide quality care to our assisted living residents. Additionally, this role is responsible for hiring, training and managing a staff that is capable of providing superior care, while maintaining the physical and emotional health of residents, and in accordance with MBK's core values.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

*Conduct and coordinate the potential assisted living resident assessment program for (20%) in accordance with current rules, regulations, and community policies and procedures that govern resident assessment: including: ensure that an initial assisted living resident assessment is completed prior to each resident's move-in date and a comprehensive care plan is completed upon move-in
* Conduct routinely scheduled re-assessments on each assisted living resident, and change of condition assessments (20%) as needed to: ensure each assisted living resident is receiving the best possible care and programs to meet their individual need conduct interviews and observations of the assisted living residents on a continual basic alert Executive Director, Health Service Assistant, family members and others (as necessary) of any changes in the physical or emotional health of the assisted living resident, and the department's ability to meet those needs
* Ensure continuity of the assisted living residents' total care regimen by developing methods for the coordination of nursing services with other resident services (20%):
work closely with all departments in the community to ensure assisted living residents are receiving all available services to enhance their quality of life
act as a resource and care manager for the assisted living residents and their families
* contact physicians, family and others to obtain orders for care and represent the community
ensure that the calendar is made and followed monthly to ensure that our assisted living residents are engaged in meaningful activities daily
* Recruit, interview, hire, manage, schedule, motivate, evaluate and supervise department staff in accordance with community policies, procedures and established budgets (15%)
daily review of timekeeping, meal breaks and overtime
create and conduct orientation for new associates
ensure on-going training and education for all associates, in accordance with all governing requirements, and community policies and procedures to ensure that staff is properly trained in:
* competent delivery of medications to residents, safety and emergency procedures, documentation / record keeping, resident's records and acceptable treatments, etc., and in providing the best care possible for our assisted living residents
* ensure all care staff compete State required training
Perform all administrative duties accurately and timely including associate evaluations, necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, surveys, resident records, assessments, care profiles, etc.(10%) including:
* coordinate departmental schedule to ensure adequate staffing in accordance with legal requirements, community standards, policies, procedures, and budgets
* ensure coverage of job duties within the department during associate absences, either through delegation or personal completion of duties
* maintain inventory of supplies necessary for resident care coordinate prescription orders with doctors' offices, as well as pharmacy delivery of medications (5%) including:
* oversee the central storage, tracking and delivery of medications
* ensure all medication carts are in order
* ensure all medication records administration are completed per Company guidelines and State regulations
Responsible for the overall safety and health of all assisted living residents (5%) including:
* ensure that all governing requirements are closely monitored and executed
* ensure that all physician orders are carried out properly
Aid in the community marketing effort through positive interactions, acting as a liaison between the community, and families/outside health service providers (5%)
Key management member acting as Manager on Duty when necessary

Non-Essential Job Duties:

* Perform other job duties or special projects as assigned/requested by the Executive Director
* Work with MBK and outside resources to develop and continue a productive Support Group to be offered as a resource to the family members of our residents
* Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies and procedures
* Understand and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations, and all company policies and procedures concerning the department
* Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, associates and guests
* Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication in accordance with the MBK principles and core values
* Assist Executive Director in completing an annual budget including: ensure the financial goals are met monthly
* manage labor and other expenses to meet these financial goals, possess the ability and desire to minimize waste and misuse of supplies/equipment

* Health Services Assistant = 1 to 6 employees
* Caregiver = 8 to 48 employees (Shared EE's w/Dir. Of CFL)

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements (Include education, experience, special skills, licenses, certifications):

* Certified RN
* Must have completed all of the required specialized Nursing coursework for certification as an RN
* Prior related work experience functioning in a similar assisted living management role, within a similar industry/work environment is essential
* Prior management or supervisory experience is required
* Current First Aid Certification is required
* Must complete Background clearances (as required by government regulations)
* Must provide negative TB test results (must be within the last 6 months or within 7 days of employment)
* Valid class of driver's license required by state for vehicle/van(s) capacity and valid insurance
* Must have solid pc skills and be familiar with several Microsoft Office Suite software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Email, etc.), and other office equipment (e.g. scanners, copiers, and fax machines)
* Excellent communication skills are required including the ability to speak, write and read English
* Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction and multiplication) as required for personnel actions, budget and other financial responsibilities
* Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, and to remain calm during stressful or emergency situations
* Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and professionally at all times with personnel, residents, family members, and guests
* Must maintain a neat and organized work environment to promote safe coordination of resident care
* Must have a valid driver's license for the state hired in and reliable transportation for potential resident assessments

Preferred Job Requirements (Include education, experience, special skills, licenses, certifications):

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Human Services or Health Care field is highly desirable
* Physical Demands (Include: Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Bending, Walking, Standing, Sitting):
* Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day and throughout the community
* Ability to lift/carry and pull up to 40+ pounds
* Ability to push residents up to 250 pounds

Community Services Supervisor

Location: Golden West - Boulder, CO

Golden West, a non-profit organization providing affordable housing and services to seniors, is currently searching for an experienced reception/front desk supervisor to manage our reception staff.  We have reception staff on duty every day from 7am – 8pm answering phones, greeting visitors, assisting residents with questions, packages, postage, and monitoring the emergency system and making sure emergencies are responded to promptly.

This is an exempt position, part of the management team with generally a Monday – Friday schedule, though the supervisor may have to cover reception shifts if no other staff are available.

POSITION PURPOSE:           The Community Services Supervisor position exists to oversee the reception and after hours response staff for the community.  The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the reception and after hours response positions are appropriately staffed and that systems and procedures exist to ensure that reception and after hours response services are available and delivered to residents in a timely manner and at a high level of quality that meets stakeholder expectations.     . 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Participate as an active member of the Management Team.  Embrace the role of a leader for the organization: display professional behavior, attitude and appearance, and actions are focused on promoting the organization’s goals and mission.
  2. Act as the direct supervisor for the reception and after hours response positions.  Responsible for hiring staff and ensuring that staff members are well-trained and effective.
  3. Responsible for scheduling the reception staff and to ensure that all shifts are covered and if staff is not available, supervisor will work the open shift.
  4. Responsible for ensuring that staff, systems and procedures are in place to provide a high level of service through the reception desk and for effective and appropriate response to resident and building emergency situations in the evening and weekends
  5. Maintains and updates Google calendars used for staff schedules and guest room reservations
  6. Assists the CEO and other departments with administrative projects as requested.
  7. All other duties assigned by supervisor.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Experience hiring, training, supervising and scheduling staff
  • Experience with senior citizens
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Goggle Calendar
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to move efficiently throughout the entire facility, including stairwells, and to move rapidly during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work at a computer station and desk for a full workday (minimum eight hours) with reasonable intermittent breaks
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone with residents, families, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Must be capable of pushing up to 40 lbs and lifting up to 20 lbs as well as bending, kneeling and reaching.  Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours a day, with reasonable intermittent breaks and be able to sit in a chair for at least 1 continuous hour.
