STAFF COMPETENCY TOOLKIT

LeadingAge and LeadingAge Colorado are excited to announce that the Staff Competency Toolkit© is now available to members! This toolkit contains 25 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) areas to be used with staff across disciplines, from front-line staff to management, from nursing to social services, activities, food and nutrition services and beyond.

Section 1 of the toolkit provides insight into the staff competency requirements for nursing homes, leadership implementation strategies, tools, and resources. Section 2 includes the 25 targeted KSA areas and each KSA area contains general information on the KSA competency, a leadership overview and guide, a facility implementation guide and checklist, competency tools based on the specific KSA requirement, a training plan, a competency test and answer key, an educational power point that includes trainer’s notes, and references and resources.

Older Americans More Likely to Cite Workplace Discrimination

A survey from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found 60 percent of adults 60 and over say older U.S. workers are "always" or "often" discriminated against, as do 43 percent of adults younger than 45, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
